Nasal polyp can be said as benign growths that originate in the mucous membranes lining the nasal passages or paranasal sinuses. Polyps are believed to arise in the nasal mucosa as a result of chronic inflammation.
These overgrowths of the mucosa are frequently accompanied with allergic rhinitis Symptoms include postnasal drainage, snoring, headaches, sinusitis, and a reduced sense of smell and taste. Recurrence of nasal polyp after surgical removal is as high as 70%

The causes of nasal polyp are still not known. Nasal polyps are most commonly caused by allergy although in certain cases no respiratory or allergic trigger can be isolated.

• Anosmia (loss of smell)
• Sinusitis
• Recurrent Infection (cough and cold)
• Sneezing
• Headache
• Snoring
• Bleeding in certain cases

Diagnosis generally is based on physical examination.
